California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced today that the California Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating an officer-involved shooting (OIS) in Corona, California. The incident, which took place on June 11, 2024, at approximately 1:10 AM, involved the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and resulted in the death of one individual.
The investigation is being conducted under Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), which mandates an independent review of certain OIS incidents. Following notification by local authorities, the DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team initiated its inquiry as required by AB 1506. Upon completion, the findings will be reviewed by DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division.
