Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit arrests two men for crimes against children

An investigation by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit has led to the arrest of two men.

William Clayton Byrd, 31, was arrested on Highway 190 in Covington on June 5 for violating LA R.S. 14:81.3 Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor (1 count). Philip Edward Walton, 22, was arrested on 19th Avenue in Covington on June 6 for violating LA R.S. 14:81.3 Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor (1 count) and LA R.S. 14:81 Indecent Behavior with Juveniles (1 count).

These arrests were the result of a joint investigation involving General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, the Covington Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Mandeville Police Department, St Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Secret Service.

Byrd and Walton were both booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
