The Office of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell announced charges today against Jose Manuel Ortiz Lopez, 38, of Lawrence, for Trafficking Fentanyl, 200 grams or more; Trafficking Cocaine, 200 grams or more; Possession of a Firearm Without a Firearm Identification (FID) Card; Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card; and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Lopez will be arraigned on June 25 in Essex Superior Court.

In February, Massachusetts State Police executed a search warrant at 34 Shattuck Street in Lawrence and found approximately 600 grams of fentanyl, approximately 200 grams of cocaine, and approximately 75 grams of crack-cocaine. While conducting a search in storage units that Lopez was renting at 34 Shattuck Street, State Police also located and seized 50 grams of cocaine and a stolen and loaded Ruger LCP subcompact .380 handgun, along with accompanying ammunition. Law enforcement also located and photographed fentanyl mixing, milling and packaging equipment.

This matter was handled by Assistant Attorney General William Aiello of AG Campbell’s Enterprise and Major Crime Division with assistance from Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Attorney General’s Office.
