Bradley is pleased to announce that Brian Maas has joined the firm’s Nashville office as counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group.
“Brian has tremendous experience and connections in the Nashville area, with additional ties throughout the country that will help expand the reach of our real estate work,” said Bradley Nashville Office Managing Partner Lauren B. Jacques. “Our new space at ONE 22 ONE and the ability to keep attracting top attorneys like Brian to the firm supports our strategic growth in Nashville and makes this an exciting time to be at Bradley.”
Prior to joining Bradley, Mr. Maas served for nearly four years as general counsel of a medical office real estate firm in Nashville. Additionally, he spent more than 20 years in California focusing on healthcare real estate at major U.S. law firms, including 14 years heading the transactional group at one of the nation’s largest healthcare REITs. While leading the in-house legal group that managed the company’s real estate and corporate functions, he oversaw the legal restructuring and execution of $20 billion in acquisitions and $2 billion of dispositions. Mr. Maas brings a wealth of experience in the structuring and documentation of complex transactions and regularly works with companies in the medical office and long term care (LTC) and senior housing industries.
“Brian is a highly regarded real estate attorney who brings a deep understanding of the lending component in healthcare real estate, particularly with LTC companies, which bolsters the capabilities of our LTC team in this highly competitive space,” said Brooks R. Smith, chair of Bradley’s Real Estate Practice Group. “His fund formation and public company work paired with his background working with REITs make him an ideal fit with our national practice, particularly with his West Coast connections and experience.”
Mr. Maas earned his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law and received his B.A. from UCLA. He is a member of the Program Board of Directors of the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, a residential treatment and educational center for children and their families.
Bradley’s Real Estate Practice Group is deeply embedded in the commercial real estate industry, serving every sector of the market, including office, multi-family, industrial, healthcare and medical, hospitality, and residential tract development, whether through acquisitions, financing, lending, leasing, construction, regulatory, tax, and other legal counsel, guidance or advice. The firm’s Healthcare Real Estate team is among the top performers in the industry, combining deep knowledge with broad experience, and handling the entire spectrum of health care real estate legal services for for-profit and nonprofit hospital systems, as well as major providers of ancillary services across the country.
