The South Central Judicial District Court Judge Chambers in Bismarck, North Dakota, is seeking applicants for the position of Staff Attorney-District Court. Minimum qualifications for the role include a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; two years of related experience conducting legal research or preparing/presenting cases in state courts; a license to practice law in North Dakota; and AAERT (American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers) CER (Certified Electronic Court Reporter) certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of job entry. Comparable certification by another state court or federal court may be substituted for the AAERT certification.

The Staff Attorney-District Court will be responsible for providing extensive legal research and analysis on pending cases before the North Dakota District Courts. They will assist judges by applying legal principles in drafting judicial orders among other related matters. The role also involves making verbatim records of district and juvenile court trials and proceedings using audio recording equipment, writing court logs, and noting appearances and essential events during the proceedings.
