Attorney General Kwame Raoul has announced that a Rockford, Illinois man has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to prison for selling methamphetamine. Delano Albert, 35, received a 12-year prison sentence on Monday from Ogle County Circuit Court Judge John C. Redington after pleading guilty to one count of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, a Class X felony.

Raoul highlighted the damaging impact of illicit drug sales on communities, stating, “Illicit drug sales have a destabilizing effect on neighborhoods and often fuel an increase in other forms of criminal activity.” He affirmed his commitment to working with federal agencies and local law enforcement to combat trafficking and hold perpetrators accountable.

Albert was found guilty of selling methamphetamine to undercover agents from the Illinois State Police’s Blackhawk Area Task Force. ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly praised the sentencing as a significant step in removing dangerous individuals from the community. “This sentencing means another person found guilty of poisoning our communities with dangerous meth is off the streets,” he said.

The case was handled by Bureau Chief Gregg Gansmann for Raoul’s Statewide Grand Jury Bureau. The bureau, authorized by Illinois statute to prosecute multi-county cases involving drugs, guns or organized retail crime, regularly collaborates with state and federal law enforcement agencies focusing on complex, often large-scale, organized criminal activity.
