TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—As National Police Week commences, Attorney General Ashley Moody has shared initiatives and programs that contribute to Florida's reputation as the most pro-law enforcement state in the nation. Since July 2022, over 1,200 officers have relocated from various parts of the country to serve in Florida. The influx of law enforcement professionals is attributed to strong leadership support and public endorsement, along with attractive incentives such as sign-on bonuses, scholarships, home-buying assistance and more.

Attorney General Ashley Moody stated, “It is no wonder that Florida is the most pro-law enforcement state in the nation—our leaders back the blue and do whatever it takes to help these brave officers do their jobs. As Florida’s Attorney General and the wife of a law enforcement officer, I am proud to show my appreciation for all they do to keep our state safe. Through their selfless service, they are helping us build a Stronger, Safer Florida.”

Moody collaborated with Gov. Ron DeSantis and lawmakers to secure pay raises, sign-on bonuses and additional benefits for law enforcement officers in Florida. Under the Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program, nearly 5,000 officers have joined Florida’s ranks. This includes over 1,200 recruits who relocated from out-of-state to serve in Florida. New officers may be eligible for sign-on bonuses of up to $5,000, up to $1,000 for equivalency training and educational costs and up to $25,000 towards purchasing a home.

Moody initiated the Be A Florida Hero campaign to promote the benefits and career opportunities associated with serving in Florida. The initiative also provides an interactive map tool displaying potential recruit opportunities at agencies throughout the state.

Moody has launched other initiatives demonstrating support for law enforcement personnel including: Thin Line Tribute which recognizes frontline law enforcement officers; Sunshine Salute Series focusing on out-of-state law enforcement who moved to Florida; and Back the Blue which highlights officers, citizens and organizations fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

In 2020, Moody served on President Donald Trump’s Law Enforcement Commission.
