SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) - A class action lawsuit alleges HP, Inc., offered sort-of warranties with the promise of a full refund if no issues arose with its computers but failed to pay up.
A class action lawsuit was filed May 8 against technology giant HP Inc. in San Francisco federal court. The plaintiff Mary Pattison, represented by attorneys John P. Kristensen and Jarrett Ellzey, alleges that HP breached its contract with customers who purchased its Care Packs with "Risk Free" rebates.
The complaint states that HP failed to administer and issue rebates as promised under the terms of its Care Pack program. This service plan, which covers potential future service needs for HP computers and related equipment, promises a full rebate to customers if they have not had any service events covered by the Care Pack for three years.
HP Inc., headquartered in Palo Alto, California, is one of the world's largest personal computer vendors. In 2023 alone, it generated over $53 billion in revenue.
