BOSTON (Legal Newsline) - The Boston Housing Authority is accused of not responding to an emergency situation for more than an hour, leading to a man's death.
A lawsuit was filed April 17 against the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) by Rhonda Williams, acting as the personal representative of the estate of Charles Williams, in the Suffolk Superior Court. Williams is represented by Nicholas Brown of Morgan & Morgan.
The complaint alleges that BHA's negligence led to the death of Charles Williams, a tenant at one of its properties located at 1990 Columbus Avenue in Roxbury. It is claimed that despite pressing the emergency alarm button in his apartment for hours and a neighbor reporting it to the front desk, no help arrived for more than an hour.
The lawsuit accuses BHA of failing to respond appropriately to Charles' calls for help, resulting in his death on March 9, 2023. The plaintiff is seeking damages for negligence and wrongful death caused by BHA's alleged gross negligence and reckless conduct.
