Attorney General Ashley Moody, along with a multistate coalition, has taken legal action to block a new Environmental Protection Agency emissions rule that aims to increase the production of electric vehicles (EVs) significantly. The lawsuit is in response to the Biden Administration's push for stricter emissions standards on gas and diesel-powered vehicles, with the goal of having EVs account for nearly 70% of car sales in less than a decade.

In a statement, Attorney General Moody criticized the EPA's approach, saying, "Biden’s EPA continues to push radical Green New Deal policies at a time when the infrastructure is not in place and Americans are struggling economically due to Biden-created inflation." She emphasized the importance of protecting Americans from what she described as "outrageous emissions standards" that could have detrimental effects on the economy.

The potential impact of the forced transition to EVs on the American economy is a cause for concern, with fears of job losses, price hikes, and strain on the electric grid. A Gallup poll revealed that consumer interest in purchasing EVs is waning, with nearly half of respondents stating they would not consider buying one.

Major players in the automotive industry are also feeling the pressure of the shift towards EVs. Ford Motor Company reported significant losses on EVs last year and anticipates further financial challenges in the coming year.

Attorney General Moody, alongside representatives from various states, including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, and others, filed the lawsuit in an effort to challenge the EPA's emissions rule. The coalition aims to address what they perceive as overreaching federal mandates that could have far-reaching consequences.

The full lawsuit can be accessed for further details on the legal action taken against the Biden Administration's electric vehicle mandate.
