The ruling by the Arizona Supreme Court, affirming the state’s antiquated abortion ban, is an alarming and deeply concerning decision that undermines the fundamental rights of those accessing reproductive healthcare in our neighboring state. The ruling restricts access to safe and legal abortion and sets a very dangerous precedent for the continued erosion of reproductive rights across the country.

While the New Mexico Department of Justice eagerly awaits a ruling on our extraordinary writ before the New Mexico Supreme Court, the Department will continue to explore and use all tools at our disposal to ensure that New Mexico continues to be a safe haven for all those seeking access to safe reproductive healthcare.
