NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - A class action lawsuit says a New York live music venue is charging illegal fees to its customers.

Sofar Sounds LLC, a live music performance company, is facing a class action lawsuit filed March 27 in New York federal court by Stephanie Corrales.

The lawsuit alleges that Sofar Sounds has been unlawfully charging an additional $2 "booking fee" per ticket at checkout without prior disclosure. This practice is claimed to be in violation of the New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law § 25.07(4), which mandates the disclosure of total cost inclusive of all ancillary fees before ticket selection for purchase.

The law came into effect on August 29, 2022. Corrales seeks relief for actual and/or statutory damages, reasonable attorneys’ costs and fees, and injunctive relief under New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law § 25.33.

Philip Fraietta of Bursor & Fisher represents the plaintiff.
