Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, a national law firm with offices coast to coast, today welcomes new partner Jillian Willis to its litigation practice in Washington, D.C. A seasoned trial attorney with nearly a decade of experience as a federal prosecutor, she most recently served in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice as assistant chief of the Health Care Fraud Unit.

“Jillian has an impressive professional background and is an established attorney in the Washington D.C. market,” said Nelson Mullins partner Gabriel Imperato. “She is a valuable addition to our team and will elevate the services we offer our clients, particularly in matters of healthcare.”

“I am thrilled to practice alongside the distinguished team of healthcare compliance experts and deep bench of skilled trial attorneys at Nelson Mullins,” said Willis. “I look forward to working with this dynamic team to further strengthen the firm’s already impressive healthcare enforcement, compliance, and litigation practice.”

Willis joins Nelson Mullins after working for the U.S. Department of Justice in various capacities since 2015. She took the role of assistant chief of the Health Care Fraud Unit in August 2021, after joining the Fraud Section as a trial attorney in 2019. During her tenure, she first-chaired and oversaw trials involving charges of healthcare fraud, violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the unlawful distribution of opioids.

Willis brings nearly 15 years of legal experience to Nelson Mullins. She began her time in the Department as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, before moving into the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section. Prior to joining the Department, she started her legal career as an associate at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington D.C.

Nelson Mullins’ national healthcare practice includes more than 65 attorneys and legislative professionals with healthcare industry experience. The Firm’s Healthcare Team provides legal representation attuned to the sensitive nature and intensity of oversight involved in healthcare transactions, claims, regulatory and enforcement, and compliance matters.
