Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecution has successfully secured a 15-year prison sentence for a human trafficker who brought two women from New York to Florida for the purpose of exploitation. The trafficker, Alan Dixon, along with accomplice Shantell Woods, coerced the victims into sex work by setting payment quotas and using threats of violence.
In response to the case, Attorney General Ashley Moody expressed, “This human trafficker brought two women from New York into Florida, who were already trying to flee a violent situation, and then forced them into sex work under threats of abuse, taking the proceeds from the illicit services for himself. Human trafficking is an atrocious crime, and now thanks to our Statewide Prosecutors, this trafficker faces a long sentence behind bars.”
The investigation conducted by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Dixon not only recruited the victims from New York but also controlled all the funds obtained from the illicit services. He imposed daily quotas on the victims and resorted to threats of violence to ensure compliance. Woods, his accomplice, played a role in promoting the victims online and arranging dates for them.
Dixon was charged with various offenses, including two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of human trafficking and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communications device. As a result of the prosecution led by Attorney General Moody’s OSP, Dixon has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The case underscores the commitment of Attorney General Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecution in combating human trafficking and seeking justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
