Attorney General John M. Formella announces the arrest of Carlos Dorego, 55, of Shelburne, New Hampshire, on one class B felony count of improper influence contrary to RSA 640:3.

It is alleged that, on or about February 14, 2024, Mr. Dorego sent unsolicited text messages to the personal cellphone of a New Hampshire Circuit Court judge with the purpose of influencing the judge in connection with Mr. Dorego’s ongoing divorce proceedings in the 1st Circuit – Family Division – Berlin.Improper influence is a class B felony, which is punishable by up to 7 years in the New Hampshire State Prison and a $4,000 fine.The charges against Mr. Dorego are mere allegations, and Mr. Dorego is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Mr. Dorego is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:00 a.m. on March 27, 2024, in the 1st Circuit – District Division – Berlin.The arrest of Mr. Dorego in this matter was completed with the assistance of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop F. The matter is being investigated and prosecuted by the New Hampshire Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Unit.
