The Taxpayers Protection Alliance Foundation (TPAF) has launched CFPB Mission Creep, a platform created to inform consumers on the level of "overreach" from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CFPB was created in 2010 as part of the Dodd-Frank Act, and was intended to maintain regulation over consumer financial products and services. The CFPB is an authority outside of Congress, meaning it is not held to a level of Congressional oversight.

“For far too long, regulatory agencies have wandered outside their congressionally-mandated authority by bending the rules to create policy by regulatory fiat,” TPAF President David Williams said. “The CFPB is one of the government’s worst offenders – its actions are unconstitutional, unaccountable, and simply unacceptable to consumers and taxpayers.”

TPAF’s CFPB Mission Creep is one of TPAF’s latest initiatives intended to bring attention to government overreach and educate consumers on the impact it has on them. It joins two other Mission Creep initiatives, one aimed at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and one on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
