America First Legal (AFL) has taken legal action against Hunter Biden, filing a complaint with the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Board of Professional Responsibility. This follows a previous bar complaint filed by AFL against Mr. Biden's attorney, Kevin Morris, in the State of California. AFL alleges that there is significant evidence of professional misconduct by Mr. Biden, violating the District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct.

According to AFL, Mr. Biden has engaged in a pattern and practice of professional misconduct, which raises questions about his honesty, trustworthiness, and fitness as a lawyer. The complaint is based on Rule 8.4 of the District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct, which states that it is professional misconduct for a lawyer to engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation. AFL argues that Mr. Biden's actions reflect adversely on his fitness to practice law.

One of the main points of contention is Mr. Biden's indictment in September 2023 in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. He was charged with two counts of knowingly making false statements in connection with the acquisition of a firearm and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm while addicted to drugs. In December 2023, Mr. Biden signed a diversion agreement admitting to making false statements.

AFL also claims that Mr. Biden has used his father's official government position to sell access, influence US policy, and gain protection from investigations or prosecution. They cite evidence such as bank records, discussions with former business associates, interviews with investigators, and records found on Mr. Biden's laptop. According to AFL, Mr. Biden sent a WhatsApp message to a Chinese corporation official, implying his ability to "influence improperly" a government agency or official.

Furthermore, AFL highlights Mr. Biden's involvement with Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company, and his failure to register as a foreign agent. The United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs and the Committee on Finance found that Mr. Biden's appointment to Burisma's board interfered with US policy towards Ukraine. AFL argues that Mr. Biden's failure to register as a foreign agent violates the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

Reed D. Rubinstein, Senior Counselor and Director of Oversight and Investigations at AFL, stated that there is substantial evidence suggesting Mr. Biden's professional misconduct. He emphasized the importance of applying the Rules of Professional Conduct consistently and fairly, stating that there should be one standard for all bar members.

The Office of Professional Responsibility is urged to investigate the allegations made against Mr. Biden to ensure the integrity of the legal profession.
