Attorney General Ashley Moody is supporting Texas and calling on the federal government to enforce public safety immigration law or allow states to defend their own borders. This comes as over six million illegal aliens have crossed the southern border since President Biden took office.
"The Biden Administration has actively made the crisis worse," says Attorney General Moody. Border Patrol agents, acting on the administration's orders, have cut Texas's border defense wires more than 20 times in just one month. In one case, a forklift was even used to raise the wire and allow more than 300 illegal aliens to enter.
With the federal government failing to secure the border, states have taken it upon themselves to protect their citizens. A federal district court found that Texas's border defense wires reduced illegal border crossings by more than two-thirds. Attorney General Moody highlights that these barriers not only protect Texans but also Floridians and the rest of the nation.
"Texas is fighting for the sovereignty of their state and this nation," says Attorney General Moody. She, along with 25 other state attorneys general, is sending a message to President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas: either enforce the law or allow the states to take action.
A coalition of 26 states, including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming, has joined Attorney General Moody in demanding that the Biden administration secure the southern border or allow states like Texas to handle the invasion themselves. The Arizona State Legislature has also joined the letter.
Attorney General Moody and the coalition of states have released a letter outlining their demands to the Biden administration. The full letter can be found [here](link).
As the crisis at the southern border continues to escalate, Attorney General Ashley Moody and her counterparts are standing up for the rights and safety of their respective states. They are urging the federal government to take action and enforce the laws that will secure the border and protect American citizens.
