Mayer Brown appointed Eric Reilly as managing partner of the firm’s Charlotte office, effective November 1, 2023. Eric succeeds Keith Oberkfell, who held the role since 2013.

"Eric’s well-earned reputation for professional excellence, coupled with his outstanding profile in the Charlotte community make him an exceptional choice to lead the office and meet the evolving needs of our clients,” said Mayer Brown Chair Jon Van Gorp. “I’m confident that Eric’s deep commitment to teamwork and client service will further expand the momentum of Keith’s tremendous work.”

Since joining the firm in 2006, after completing a clerkship with the US Bankruptcy Court, Eric has been a banking and finance lawyer based in the Charlotte office. Eric regularly represents borrowers and lenders in commercial, multifamily and residential mortgage warehouse facilities, including facilities structured to finance nonperforming loans, non-QM loans, reverse mortgage loans and home equity loans. He also regularly represents financial institutions and finance companies in the securitization of mortgage loans and other real estate assets, including advising issuers and underwriters in the structuring and execution of CRE CLOs.

“I’m honored to lead the Charlotte office,” said Eric. “I look forward to continuing to expand our Charlotte office to serve our national and international client base.”

Mayer Brown’s Charlotte office is particularly known for work in the areas of structured finance, securitization, broadly syndicated and mid-market collateralized loan obligations, fund finance, commercial mortgage-backed securities, derivatives, subscription credit facilities and other esoteric asset classes.
