BOSTON (Legal Newsline) - A Boston University student complains in a lawsuit that he was given a defective skate at its fitness and recreation center, leading to a shattered ankle.
Boston University, Kyle Morris and a John Doe defendant are facing a lawsuit filed by Sebastian Seun, a full-time student of the university. The case was filed on Jan. 3 in Suffolk County Superior Court.
Seun alleges that he suffered severe injuries due to defective ice skates provided by BU. According to the complaint, Seun paid $5 to rent a pair of ice skates from BU on Nov. 6. Unbeknownst to him, the skates were allegedly defective.
Immediately after getting onto the ice, one of the skates snapped, causing his ankle to shatter, the suit says.
Seun underwent open reduction internal fixation surgery and still has hardware in his ankle due to this catastrophic injury, the suit says. He also bears a noticeable scar from the surgery, the suit says. He claims that BU, Morris, and John Doe failed to provide any warnings about the defective skates and should have known about their condition.
Chad Vacarella is representing Seun.
