SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) - Procter & Gamble faces a class action lawsuit that alleges the presence of lead in Metamucil.
Procter & Gamble (P&G) is sued by plaintiff Tara Amado, who alleges that the company's Metamucil products contain dangerous amounts of lead. The suit, filed Dec. 6 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, claims that P&G's marketing of Metamucil as healthy and safe for consumers aged 12 and older is false or at least highly misleading.
It also alleges that P&G failed to include a Proposition 65 warning on the Metamucil products as required by lead's spot on the Prop 65 list as a possible carcinogen.
The case seeks to enjoin P&G from deceptively marketing the Metamucil Products and recover compensation for injured class members. Attorneys from Fitzgerald Joseph in San Diego filed the case.
