Antigo, Wisconsin - Brady L. Mevis, a 24-year-old resident of Antigo, has been charged with multiple counts related to drug trafficking, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Mevis faces two charges of Conspiracy to Commit Delivery of Methamphetamine, two charges of Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, and one charge of Possession with Intent to Deliver THC as a Party to a Crime.

Attorney General Josh Kaul emphasized the danger that drug dealing poses to communities and expressed pride in the collaboration between the Wisconsin Department of Justice and other agencies in fighting the distribution of narcotics.

The charges against Mevis stem from an incident that occurred on August 8, 2023. Law enforcement responded to a 911 call at Mevis' residence and discovered him on the floor with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. During their investigation of the shooting, authorities found drug paraphernalia, as well as containers of THC and methamphetamine in Mevis' home. Additionally, they discovered conversations, videos, and photos on cell phones that indicated Mevis' involvement in the delivery of controlled substances.

Further investigations into Mevis' drug trafficking activities revealed that large quantities of drugs were being shipped to Antigo, Wisconsin, and distributed by Mevis and others. Shockingly, Mevis continued to receive methamphetamine in the mail even after being released from the hospital following the shooting.

It is important to note that, in the eyes of the law, Mevis is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The case was thoroughly investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, the Langlade County Sheriff's Office, Langlade County Probation and Parole, and the Antigo Police Department. The prosecution will be handled by Langlade County District Attorney Kelly Hays.

An initial court appearance for Mevis is scheduled for January 8, 2024, at 1:30 p.m.

The charges against Brady L. Mevis highlight the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Antigo, Wisconsin.
