Marshall Dennehey announced today that effective January 1, 2024, Matthew S. Schorr will become Director of the firm’s Casualty Department and Jeffrey G. Rapattoni will be the Assistant Director. With more than 250 attorneys, the Casualty Department is the largest of the firm’s four core legal departments, with 18 distinct practice groups and attorneys staffed across the firm’s 19 offices in 7 states.

Schorr, who has served as Assistant Director of the department since 2015 and is a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, will replace Howard P. Dwoskin who has been involved with managing the department for the past 21 years. While Dwoskin is stepping down as Director, he will maintain his positions as Chairman of the firm’s Board of Directors and a member of the Executive Committee.

Rapattoni is a longtime shareholder and leader of two practice groups within the Casualty Department, and also serves on the firm’s Board of Directors.

"The future of the Casualty Department is in great hands with Matt and Jeff at the helm," said Dwoskin. "Not only do they have excellent managerial and administrative skills, but they also are highly experienced attorneys who understand our clients' needs when it comes to complex casualty litigation matters. They make a great team that will benefit the firm and our clients, and keep the department on course for growth and expansion in the coming years."

Schorr joined Marshall Dennehey’s Roseland, NJ, office in 2008 and was the Regional Managing Attorney of the Casualty Department for the firm's northern New Jersey and New York offices before becoming Assistant Director. Certified as a Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, he is an accomplished litigator with extensive experience in the areas of premises, restaurant/bar, maritime, community association and other casualty liability matters. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and Fordham University School of Law.

Rapattoni joined Marshall Dennehey in 2008 and helped to build, and then lead, the firm’s Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Litigation, and Fraud/Special Investigation Practice Groups. He has more than 20 years of experience litigating insurance fraud and fraud-related matters on a national level, and often acts as coordinating counsel to insurance companies, helping clients develop strategies for defending complex litigation related to medical provider fraud, PIP and other emerging insurance issues. Rapattoni graduated from Villanova University and received his law degree from Rutgers Law School-Camden.
