The Boston Intellectual Property Law Association (BIPLA) honored Morgan Lewis associate Micah Jones with its 2023 Pro Bono Award during the association’s annual meeting in Boston. The annual award recognizes “significant or meaningful” pro bono services of a BIPLA member.

Micah received the award for his efforts to help former Afghan government deputy minister Mohammad Hamid Yousafi and his family secure Special Immigrant Visas and relocate to the United States. Micah was part of a team of Morgan Lewis lawyers, legislators, and diplomats who helped to evacuate Hamid, his wife, and their five children from Afghanistan following the United States’ 2021 withdrawal from the Taliban-led country. Micah previously worked alongside Hamid in 2014 and 2015 during Micah’s US Army deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan.

Micah is a litigation associate resident in the firm’s Boston office. In his work as a litigator, Micah has helped clients navigate patent infringement disputes. While in law school, Micah was a member of Northeastern University’s intellectual property clinic, the IP CO-LAB, where he had the opportunity to prosecute trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Micah also has an active pro bono practice focused on helping veterans and their families. Micah’s pro bono efforts have been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post Magazine, and Law360.
