Washington Office Managing Principal and Federal and State Policy Team Leader Chris Cushing has been named to the Top Lobbyists 2023 list by The Hill, an American newspaper and digital media company based in Washington, D.C. that focuses on politics, policy, business, and international relations.

The Hill’s Top Lobbyists list reflects the impactful corporate lobbyists, hired guns, association leaders, and grassroots activists who “stood out for the results they’ve delivered for their clients, companies, trade associations, and advocacy groups in the nation’s capital,” according to the news organization.

Cushing was named among the best "hired gun" lobbyists in Washington, D.C., and has earned the honor four years in a row.

Cushing leads the Nelson Mullins federal and state lobbying practice firmwide and is the first non-lawyer in the firm’s 125-year history to chair a team and lead a firm office. He has 35 years of experience in government, politics, and corporate public policy issues. Cushing is an experienced political advisor and strategist, having served in leadership positions on winning presidential campaigns on three continents.

The Nelson Mullins Government Relations Group combines legal and political experience, lobbying, and business strategy to develop integrated business and government relations strategies. The 30-plus team members include former members of Congress and professional Capitol Hill staff, former agency appointees; Cabinet secretaries, including the former U.S. Secretary of Education; a former ambassador to Canada, governor, national and state political party leaders; and state lawmakers.
