Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced the launch of a new "Support Adoption" License Plate and Support Adoption Grant Program. The program, administered by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), aims to provide financial assistance to eligible non-profit organizations that offer adoption services.

The Support Adoption program was established through Senate Bill 2376, authored by Senator Donna Campbell, and recently signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott. Under this program, the OAG will distribute grants to organizations that support pregnant women considering adoption and children in need of adoptive families. The grants can be used to cover the material needs of pregnant women, provide training and counseling related to adoption, and even assist with the direct cost of adoption, which can often be quite substantial.

Attorney General Paxton expressed his enthusiasm for the new program, stating, "I am excited to announce this new program encouraging the life-changing miracle of adoption. None of the money will go to any organization that promotes abortion or abortion-related services. In Texas, we recognize that life is precious and must be protected. However, more than merely opposing the violence of abortion, we are pro-life. That is why the 'Support Adoption' grant program was created: to assist those who might feel hopeless, lost, alone, or confused, and offer them a better path."

To support the implementation of the Support Adoption program, AG Paxton appointed a Support Adoption Committee that worked closely with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to design a new specialty license plate. The design of the plate can be viewed on the OAG's website.

For more information about the Support Adoption program and the organizations that are eligible for grants, interested individuals can visit the OAG's website. This initiative aims to provide much-needed support to pregnant women and children in Texas who are considering adoption, offering them hope and a brighter future.
