Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP has been awarded a Pro Bono Hero Award by Legal Aid of North Carolina. The firm is one of the inaugural recipients of the award that recognizes extraordinary pro bono service and support, according to Legal Aid of North Carolina.

The firm received the award on Nov. 1 at the Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Statewide Summit in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The award recognized the work of partners Paul Osowski and Jeff Kelly; of counsel attorney Lorin J. Lapidus, and associate David Blue. The organization said it specifically wants to recognize Osowski’s service in the affordable housing and eviction practice areas as a part of the Charlotte Triage Pro Bono Partnership, Lapidus’ participation in moot courts for Legal Aid of N.C.’s appellate cases, Blue's extensive pro bono work on a years-long case that successfully concluded this year, and Kelly’s service as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors and the launch of the organization’s Innovation Lab.
