Raymond G. Truitt, a Ballard Spahr partner known for his work on commercial real estate financing, restructuring, development, and leasing, has been elected Vice President of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), a national association of distinguished real estate lawyers.

Based in Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, Mr. Truitt serves as the firm’s Managing Partner of Finance and Operations and as a member of the Executive Team of the firm’s Management Committee. His election as ACREL Vice President took place during the organization’s recent annual meeting in Denver. It follows his service over the past year as Treasurer, and prior to that, as Secretary and on the ACREL Board of Governors.

In addition to his work with ACREL, Mr. Truitt is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and has served as Chair of both its Section of Real Property and the Section’s Code Revision Committee. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and its U.S. Law Conference Program Committee, for which he also served as Chair.

ACREL is widely regarded as the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. Admission is by invitation only based on outstanding legal ability, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct. ACREL presents professional education and networking events, publishes educational and informational materials, and performs public service projects.

Ballard Spahr has a long tradition of membership and leadership in ACREL, including two recipients of ACREL’s highest honor, the Frederick S. Lane Award: the late Richard R. Goldberg, in 2017, and retired partner Morton P. Fisher, Jr., who received the award at this year’s annual meeting. They are among just 14 Lane Award recipients since the award’s inception 30 years ago.
