Troutman Pepper is among 11 law firms to be recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s inaugural Law Firms on the Move program. The firm is highlighted for its embrace of innovation in firm management and legal practice, growth strategies, new practice areas, community outreach, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

“We are delighted to be among the first firms to earn this recognition,” said Brooks Smith, managing partner of Troutman Pepper’s Richmond office, the national law firm’s second largest by attorney headcount. “This achievement highlights our steady, client-driven growth in the region and firmwide focus on innovation, client experience, community engagement, and DEI.”

Troutman Pepper has a robust Virginia presence, with more than 150 attorneys practicing from the firm’s Richmond and Virginia Beach offices. The full-service Commonwealth offices cater to clients in virtually every sector with local, national, and even international reach. Attorneys are well-connected to local businesses, governmental circles, economic development, culture, arts, and charitable organizations.

“The Virginia Law Firm on the Move distinction shines a spotlight on all the great work we are doing for clients but also how invested and embedded our people are in the local communities,” said John Ramirez, managing partner of the firm’s Virginia Beach office.

This year alone, Virginia Lawyers Weekly has recognized five Troutman Pepper attorneys – Pam Belleman, Jonathan Floyd, Will Homiller, Ashley Taylor, and Andrea Wortzel – for their career achievements, practice strengths, leadership, and community engagement, among other attributes. Troutman Pepper’s Law Firm on the Move nomination notably highlighted the firm’s focus on innovation.

Among the firm’s recent achievements in innovation is its launch of the generative AI assistant, Athena. The GPT-powered application was designed to help attorneys and business professionals within the firm safely and effectively use generative AI to improve workflows and enhance overall user and client experiences. Troutman Pepper was one of the first law firms to release such a tool.

The firm also has been celebrated for its creative approaches to client service. Last August, it launched its bespoke client value program, Troutman Pepper Plus, which combines the services of attorneys and skilled professionals across the firm to provide clients with tailored solutions in areas like innovation, diversity, pricing, legal project management, pro bono, and more.
