Robert A. Rizzi - Lawyer | Holland & Knight

Holland & Knight welcomes Robert "Bob" Rizzi as a partner in the firm's Tax, Executive Compensation & Benefits Practice in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Mr. Rizzi was a partner at Steptoe & Johnson.

Mr. Rizzi is well known for his preeminent practice representing presidential appointees through the vetting process, which requires deep knowledge of tax and government ethics rules. He also advises domestic and multinational businesses on the federal and state income tax aspects of corporate and partnership business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), reorganizations, workouts and joint ventures.

"Bob is a nationally recognized advisor on corporate and partnership tax law, who also brings a distinct practice representing presidential appointees," said Todd Keator, co-leader of Holland & Knight's Tax, Executive Compensation & Benefits Practice. "Bob's arrival effectively allows us to 'corner the market' in presidential vetting as he joins forces with Holland & Knight Partner Charles Borden, another well-known government ethics attorney practicing in this area. We are delighted to offer these sophisticated services to a wider group of individuals in the future."

Mr. Rizzi's clients have included cabinet and subcabinet members, administrators and commissioners of various agencies, and numerous ambassadorial appointees in both Democratic and Republican administrations. He has also worked on vice presidential vetting and has worked closely with the presidential transition teams of three administrations. Mr. Rizzi currently teaches a government ethics course with Mr. Borden at Harvard Law School.

In addition, Mr. Rizzi has more than four decades of experience providing tax planning for transactions in the financial services, telecommunications, real estate, technology and hospitality sectors, primarily in international markets. He also advises multinational high-net-worth families on transactional, tax planning and cross-border matters, as well as provides tax advice and structuring for mid-market and private equity transactions in the U.S. and abroad.

"I am excited about this next chapter of my career at Holland & Knight," said Mr. Rizzi. "Collaborating with Charles will be advantageous on many levels, but I also look forward to working with the firm's tax professionals throughout the U.S. for the benefit of our clients."

Mr. Rizzi earned a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and an A.B. degree from Princeton University.
