HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — A woman who gave CPR to an unresponsive man is claiming assault after he allegedly came to and began to attack her at the pool area of an Arkansas hotel.

Tamara Bayes filed a complaint July 27 in the Garland County Circuit Court against Alexander Melton, Los Lagos at Hot Springs Village and others alleging assault, negligence and other claims.

According to Bayes' complaint, she was a guest at the Los Lagos at Hot Springs Village on Aug. 7, 2022. She claims as she was peacefully relaxing by the pool area, she noticed Melton, a contractor working on the premises, entering the pool house and then she heard the "sound of someone falling."

She further claims she then entered the pool house and found Melton on the ground unresponsive. Bayes claims she began to perform CPR on Melton and when he awoke, he got into a "fighting stance" and struck her on the face, head and arms, knocking her to ground.

She claims Melton committed assault and battery and claims LaTour Hotels Resorts' negligence in the hiring of its contractors. She also claims she suffered serious injuries and incurred medial treatment costs as a result of the attack.

Bayes seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Russell Marlin of Taylor King & Associates PA in Arkadelphia.
