Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome John G. Hodnette to the firm’s Charlotte office as counsel in the Taxation & Wealth Planning Department.
A member of the firm’s national tax practice, Hodnette works with clients to reach their goals in the most advantageous and tax-efficient manner possible. Well-versed in tax law, he advises clients on all aspects of business taxation, including structuring merger and acquisition transactions; resolving partnership, S corporation and C corporation tax issues; and researching complex income taxation matters. He also represents clients before the IRS and the North Carolina Department of Revenue to settle tax debts and resolve tax audits, collection matters and other tax controversy.
Fluent in business taxation issues, Hodnette handles the legal challenges that arise throughout the life cycle of companies, from formation to operation, succession planning and exits. He has drafted and negotiated complex business documents such as asset purchase agreements for companies and individuals, as well as drafted estate plans that help maximize tax benefits for high-net-worth individuals.
He is a frequent contributor to the North Carolina Bar Association Tax Section Blog.
Hodnette earned his LL.M. from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Auburn University.
Prior to joining Fox, Hodnette was special counsel at Johnston Allison & Hord, P.A.
