E. Fitzgerald Veira, a veteran environmental and natural resources attorney, has been elected as a 2023 Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL). He was chosen – along with 26 others – for his “distinguished experience, high standards of practice, and substantial contributions to the field of environmental law.”

The ACOEL is a professional association of distinguished lawyers who practice in the field of environmental law. Membership is by invitation and members are recognized by their peers as preeminent in their field. The association is dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law, the administration of justice, and the development of environmental law at both the state and federal level.

He currently represents local, national, and international clients on a broad range of environmental and nuclear regulatory matters, transactions and in litigation with particular emphasis on matters arising under the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). He has defended clients in many enforcement and private actions brought under state and federal environmental laws.

Troutman Pepper’s Environmental and Natural Resources Practice Group helps clients navigate critical environmental issues in the context of complex litigation, compliance, enforcement, and transactional matters. The group includes nearly 30 attorneys with valuable government, industry and technical experience, who provide a unique perspective to address the rapidly evolving federal, state, and local environmental issues that clients face on a day-to-day basis.
