Global law firm Reed Smith announced that seasoned capital markets attorney Anthony J. Marsico has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Corporate Group. Marsico, who will be based out of Reed Smith’s New York office, brings to the firm almost three decades of broad transactional capital markets experience representing a wide range of capital markets constituent clients, including financial institutions, investment banks, underwriters, placement agents, broker-dealers, trading firms, private equity firms, hedge funds, family offices and other private investors, as well as publicly traded and closely held domestic and foreign corporations.

Marsico’s practice also extends into a variety of industries, including life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical, cannabis, technology, manufacturing, retail, food & beverage, mining and natural resources, cleantech and financial services.

Marsico’s practice spans the full spectrum of public and private equity and debt capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings, fully marketed and “alternative” or “hybrid” follow-on public securities offerings (including registered-direct offerings and confidentially marketed or “wall-cross” public offerings), “overnight” or “bought” deals, at-the-market offerings (ATMs), and public and privately placed committed equity facility” financings (ELOCs). He also advises on traditional and structured equity and debt private investments in public companies (PIPEs), debt-for-equity exchanges, and a variety of cross-border securities offerings, particularly U.S./Canadian cross-border public securities offerings for companies with dual listings of securities on Canadian and U.S. securities exchanges.

“We have made it a strategic priority to aggressively expand our capital markets practice,” said James Tandler, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group. “Anthony is an exceptional lawyer with a compelling capital markets practice and has deep experience serving clients on each side of the table, either as issuer, underwriter, placement/sales agent, or institutional/private investor. We are excited to have him join our firm.”

“What stood out to me most about Reed Smith was that though its capital markets team is highly regarded in the market, they are always looking to add new capabilities so that the firm can truly deliver on its reputation as a full-service firm known for crafting innovative solutions and driving complex transactions forward for all parties involved,” Marsico said. “I look forward to being part of a team that is acutely focused on growth, delivering exceptional service for our clients, and strengthening its brand as leading provider of capital market legal counsel, nationally and globally.”

Marsico joins Reed Smith from Dorsey & Whitney, where he was a partner in their Capital Markets and Corporate Compliance Practice Group, based in New York.
