Troutman Pepper and two attorneys from the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group have been awarded the 2022 Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The certificate celebrates individuals and law firms that have volunteered significant time and effort to help financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses protect their ideas, positioning them to more fully realize their ideas and dreams.

The USPTO’s Patent Pro Bono Program was established under the 2011 America Invents Act as a nationwide network of independently operated regional programs that match volunteer practitioners with inventors for the purpose of securing patent protection. Troutman Pepper is among 25 corporations and law firms recognized for contributing significant hours to one or more participating regional programs.

Intellectual Property Attorneys John Morrissett, and Scott Bergeson are recognized for providing 50 or more pro bono hours in 2022 to the Georgia PATENTS program, which assists solo inventors, nonprofits, and small businesses with finding patent agents and attorneys to help file patents on a pro bono basis. Troutman Pepper is a founding supporter of the program, which has grown to assist inventors in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Troutman Pepper’s nationally recognized Intellectual Property Practice provides the complete range of services for patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets and assists clients with litigation and dispute resolution, licensing and other transactions. Clients include startups, Fortune 100 companies, academic and research institutes, business incubators, and technology companies in a wide range of industries.

Each year, Troutman Pepper attorneys dedicate thousands of pro bono hours in support of nonprofits, immigrants, military veterans, children, the wrongfully convicted, civil rights and social justice initiatives, and so many more. Learn more at troutman.com/pro-bono.
