BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — A guest at a Boston hotel is alleging negligence after the shower glass door on a guest room suddenly exploded and shattered.

Manish Butte filed a complaint March 13 in Suffolk County Superior Court against The Seaport Hotel alleging negligence.

Butte, according to his complaint, serves as the division chief of immunology at UCLA's Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Butte claims that on June 10, 2022, he traveled to Boston to attend a medical conference and stayed at the Seaport Hotel. He alleges that while he was in the shower in the hotel room bathroom, the glass door of the shower "spontaneously combusted" and caused an "explosion of glass in all directions."

Dr. Butte claims he suffered severe injuries and that the defendant failed to provide safe rooms and accommodations at its hotel. He also claims the defendant's negligence for failing to repair or eliminate the dangerous condition, failing to properly install the glass shower and for failing to warn of the hazard. Dr. Butte alleges as a result of his injuries, he suffered pain, lost wages and incurred medical expenses.

Butte seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Julie DeNardo in Boston, Massachusetts.
