CAMDEN, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — The estate of a timber company worker who allegedly died from head injuries is claiming wrongful death in an Arkansas court.

Jessica Pickett, individually and as court appointed personal representative of the Estate of David Lightsy, deceased, filed a complaint March 21 in Ouachita County Circuit Court against Anthony Timberlands Inc., John E. Anthony, Steven Anthony and Doe 1 alleging wrongful death.

According to Pickett's complaint, her son, David Lightsy, was employed as a machine operator with Anthony Timberlands. She claims that in July of 2019, he went to Ouachita County Medical Center due to having wood in his eye. She further claims that in August of 2019, Lightsy suffered an on-the-job injury when he hit his head on a log and was suspended in the air from a machine.

Pickett alleges Lightsy suffered retaliation after reporting the accident to his supervisor and left his job. She claims Lightsy began to experience worsening headaches, changes in his behavior and an alteration of his mental state in September of 2019. She alleges after several hospitalizations, her son died from his head injuries in March of 2020.

Pickett seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by LaQuetta Henry of The CGM Law Group LLP in Strong, Arkansas.
