MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — A woman who was injured in an explosion at Arkansas' Washington County Fairgrounds is claiming negligence.

Leigh Anne Hammond filed a complaint  Feb. 2 in Baxter County Circuit Court against Arkansas Youth Expo, Mark Satterfield doing business as Satterfield Charolais & Angus, Mason Walker doing business as Supreme Show Goats and others alleging negligence.

Hammond, according to her complaint, was at the Arkansas Youth Expo at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Oct. 6, 2020. She claims she was near the animal pen holding when Satterfield's goat was being prepped to be shown. Hammond further claims the pen area was near a generator and a bucket with a heating element and that Satterfield and Walker placed aerosol cans in the bucket then walked away.

She alleges the cans overheated, caused an explosion and became projectiles which struck her in her leg. Hammond claims Satterfield had previously overheated aerosol cans at animal showing events and that the Arkansas Youth Expo knew or should have known that the aerosol cans were being improperly heated and failed to inspect and maintain a reasonably safe premises. She alleges as a result of her injuries she has suffered permanent injuries, lost wages and incurred medical expenses.

Hammond seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Justin Zachary, Joe Denton and Andrew Norwood of Denton & Zachary PLLC in Little Rock.
