FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — An Arkansas man alleges he suffered loss of vision in one of his eyes after laser surgery at an eye clinic.

Keeling Grubb filed a complaint Feb. 9 in Washington County Circuit Court against Vold Vision PLLC, Steven D. Vold, M.D., Emma Hendricks, O.D., Michael R. McFarland, O.D., and others alleging medical negligence and other claims.

According to his complaint, Grubb was examined at Vold Vision Eye Clinic in Fayetteville in February of 2021. He alleges Hendricks recommended "YAG capsulotomy" laser surgery on his eyes, which was performed that same day on his left eye. Grubb claims that approximately two days after the procedure, he felt "sharp and excruciating" pain in the form of headaches from his left eye.

He further claims the defendants prescribed eye drops and performed the laser surgery on the right eye in March of 2021. Grubb alleges in April of 2021, he began to have pain, floaters and light flashes in his left eye and suffered from partial loss of vision.

He claims he suffered retinal detachment with retinal break in his left eye and despite multiple surgeries, still has almost no vision in his eye. Grubb alleges the defendants failed to timely recognize and treat his retinal detachment and that the Vold Vision receptionists had failed to give him an emergency appointment for weeks despite his serious symptoms.

Grubb seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by David Jones and Tood Kolezum of Logan & Lowry LLP in Vinita, Oklahoma.
