WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) - A federal watchdog filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) inspector general against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and asked for an investigation into alleged scientific integrity violations.
In its complaint, Protect the Public's Trust (PPT) accuses the CDC of politicizing science and refusing to track known serious side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“There is a whole list, such as myocarditis, pericarditis, anaphylaxis, and other severe side effects that are associated with these vaccines, which they didn't put on the list, and they're essentially not able to track,” said Michael Chamberlain, PPT’s director.

V-safe, the CDC's vaccine wellness tracking application, only lists mild side effects, such as chills, headache, joint pains, muscle or body aches, fatigue or tiredness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and rash, according to the complaint.
"By not putting heart-related side effects on the list where they can just identify them with a check box, they don't collect the data on them essentially," Chamberlain said.
PPT became aware of the oversight through another organization’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) query.
“When we did some digging of our own, we discovered the depth of it and decided this was something that really was what we considered a violation of the principles that the CDC and all of our federal health system agencies are supposed to espouse,” Chamberlain said.
It’s been widely reported that in male patients between the ages of 17 and 39 there is an increased risk for cardiomyopathy and other heart conditions after COVID- vaccination.
The complaint arrives at a time when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is organizing a statewide grand jury to investigate any wrongdoing by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna and their officers as it relates to misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine, according to media reports.
“A cynic might say that the CDC doesn’t want the public to know about the side effects and it really feeds into theories people have that the CDC may not be being truthful and forthright about what the side effects of the vaccines are,” Chamberlain told Legal Newsline.
The request for an investigation into the CDC was filed with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi A. Grimm who began her tenure under former President Trump.
“Inspectors general are independent although they are appointed by presidents,” Chamberlain added. “Their terms overlap presidential administrations. So, we would hope that she sees the value in investigating this. Trust is the most precious commodity that health officials have.”
