WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Legal Newsline) - Honey-flavored graham crackers are tricking snackers, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Attorney Spencer Sheehan filed the case July 18 in New York federal court on behalf of plaintiff Sara Feldman. The case alleges Wakefern Food's bowl & basket graham crackers contain a minimal amount of honey and not as much whole grain as the box would have customers believe.
The graham crackers at issue are "sugar honey" flavored and have a honey dipper on the box. The suit notes enriched flour is the No. 1 ingredient, with whole wheat flour second. Honey comes fifth.
"Plaintiff would not have purchased the product if she knew the representations and omissions were false and misleading or would have paid less for it," the suit says. "Plaintiff chose between Defendant's product and products represented similarly, but which did not misrepresent their attributes, features, and/or components."
The suit says the graham crackers were worth less than what Feldman paid for them.
