SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) - Amazon faces a lawsuit brought under California's notorious Prop 65 over materials in food storage containers.

The law firm Seven Hills LLP filed suit July 8 in San Francisco Superior Court, using a plaintiff called Keep America Safe and Beautiful. Also named as defendants are TigerChef and Suburban Bowery of Suffern, Inc.

Companies that make products that contain chemicals listed on California’s Prop 65 list are required to include warning labels that say they could cause cancer. Some plaintiffs lawyers make millions filing lawsuits.

In this case, the product at issue is a TigerChef Commercial Grade Food Storage Container that allegedly contains Bisphenol A, or BPA. Amazon is named as a defendant for importing and selling the container.

"Defendants know or should have known the products they manufacture, import, distribute, sell and offer for sale in California contain BPA," the suit says.
