TAMPA, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - A run-of-the-mill disinfectant wipe sent a Florida man to the hospital, a new lawsuit alleges.

Adam Bruce Packer sued Kimberly-Clark Worldwide and Costco on March 14 in Hillsborough County Circuit Court. Kimberly-Clark makes Cottonelle Flushable Wipes, which Packer says he bought in 2020 at Costco.

"When Plaintiff... purchased the Flushable Wipes, they were contaminated with a bacterium," the suit says.

"After using the Flushable Wipes as intended, on or about Sept. 20, 2020, Plaintiff... developed a bacterial infection at the same area in which he used the Flushable Wipes. As a result of the infection, Plaintiff... required medical treatment, including hospitalization and surgery."

Packer says he has suffered physical impairment, pain and suffering and loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, among other claims.

Kevin Britt Woods of Woods Trial Law in Tampa is representing Packer.
