CAMDEN, N.J. (Legal Newsline) - A Pennsylvania lawyer is accused of botching his client's car-wreck case and lying about being able to practice law in New Jersey.

Johnnie Bembry sued Thomas Fieger and the Media, Pa., firm Cherry, Feiger & Cherry on Jan. 26 in Camden County Superior Court. The defendants on March 4 removed the case to federal court.

The complaint says Fieger was rear-ended in August 2017 by a car going 90 mph, leaving him with injuries to his upper body and knees. He hired Fieger to pursue a lawsuit and asked if he could bring the case in New Jersey, the suit says.

Despite being told the case was "like wine" and got better with age, Bembry started to worry when attempts to reach Fieger for an update when unreturned, he says.

"Plaintiff eventually located the docket number on his own," the lawsuit says. "Upon searching for the status of the case, Plaintiff realized that the case had been dismissed. However, on the few occurrences in which Defendant communicated with Plaintiff, he informed Plaintiff that the case was ongoing."

Bembry says he then found out Fieger wasn't licensed in New Jersey. Bembry is represented by , David Berlin, Matthew Weisberg and Gary Schafkopf.
