LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) - A plaintiff known as K.O. filed a federal class action lawsuit on December 9 in the Central District Court of California against Planned Parenthood Los Angeles for violation of the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, violation of the California Consumer Records Act, violation of the Unfair Competition Law, unfair prong, negligence and invasion of privacy.

According to the lawsuit, the action being taken is due to Planned Parenthood’s failure to secure the highly sensitive personal information of its patient when a breach of security between approximately October 9, 2021, and October 17, 2021 allowed for the personal, identifiable information of more than 400,000 patients to be accessed through Planned Parenthood’s computer network.

K.O. seeks compensatory and statutory damages, injunctive relief, monetary relief, nominal damages, other equitable relief, pre-and post-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees and cost of suit. K.O. is represented by Simon S. Grille of San Francisco.
