LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline -- Five plaintiffs are suing Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson for ending several federally funded pandemic-related unemployment programs.

Logan Armstrong, Emily Ball, Ronald Bates, Cynthia Eyiuche and Kurt Johnsen filed a complaint on July 23 in the Circuit Court of Pulaski County against Hutchinson and Charisse Childers, in her official capacity as Director of the Arkansas Division of Workforce Service.

According to the complaint, Gov. Hutchinson made an executive order for the Division of Workforce Services to end several federally funded pandemic-related unemployment programs as of June 26, 2021, approximately 10 weeks before these programs were set to stop. The plaintiffs allege that as a result, approximately 69,000 Arkansans have lost access to life-sustaining benefits for which they otherwise qualified.

The plaintiffs are represented by Kevin De Liban.
