NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) --- A woman claims her left foot became trapped after an escalator broke while she was shopping.

Yurkenia Espinal filed a complaint on June 21 in New York County Supreme Court against Thyssen Krupp Elevator Corporation, Old Navy, LLC and The Gap, Inc. for negligence and personal injury.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 1, 2020, Espinal was riding on the escalator to go from the second floor to the first floor between Old Navy and The Gap, when the escalator broke and caused Espinal's foot to become trapped in the escalator.

Espinal alleges that the injuries were caused by the defendants' dangerous and unsafe conditions, which they had constructive knowledge of but did nothing to prevent.

Espinal seeks monetary compensation for pain and suffering. Espinal is represented by Bruce J. Cheriff of Cheriff and Fink, P.C.
