LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline) - Walmart's baby food is not as healthy as it claims to be, a class action lawsuit against the company says.
Filed April 27 in Arkansas federal court, plaintiffs claim the baby food contains significant levels of heavy metals like arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury. This followed a House subcommittee report in February regarding the baby food industry.
"Defendant Walmart knew that the presence of toxic heavy metals in its baby food products was material to consumers, which is evidenced by its representations that its baby food products are organic, non-GMO, free from artificial flavors, colors and preservatives, and 'great for you,'" the lawsuit said.
"Yet Defendant chose to omit and conceal that its baby food products contained, or were at risk of containing, levels of heavy toxic metals..."
The firms Carney Bates & Pulliam, Carlson Lynch and Leeds Brown Law filed the case.
