SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Legal Newsline) - Chick-fil-A was accused of deceptive delivery fee practices in a Sacramento County Superior Court lawsuit.

The complaint was filed on March 11 by plaintiff Ronald Ortega and was removed to federal court on May 7.

According to the complaint, the restaurant began food delivery service through a mobile application at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The complaint accuses Chick-fil-A of falsely advertising the delivery fee as $3.99, when it is actually much higher because food costs for delivered food are marked up by 25-30%.

The fast food restaurant is charged with violation of California's Unfair Competition Law, violation of California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act and violation of California's False Advertising Law.

The plaintiff is represented by Kaliel Gold PLLC.
