SAN DIEGO (Legal Newsline) – A company that allows ticket owners to resell them is being sued in San Diego federal court for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman sued Ticketsonsale.com on March 23 under the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act and the Unfair Competition Law. Ticket Fulfillment Services is also a defendant in the proposed class action.
“Defendants’ website provides a platform for the resale between private parties of tickets to live events,” the lawsuit says. “Defendants charge a fee for use and provide certain protections for transactions.
“Thus, consumers pay a premium to utilize Defendants’ website because Defendants advertise their platform as an online marketplace for resale tickets that is safer and more reliable than making such transactions directly.”
Friedman’s plaintiff said he paid $368 for an event that was postponed indefinitely. He was only given a credit for the amount instead of a refund, he says.
